The Bend Stadium Sprint

_MWP8010.jpg

The Bend is South Australia’s Motorsport Crown Jewel. Completed in 2018 it is a world class facility with all the bells and whistles, including a Stadium Circuit that is used for GoKarting, Drifting and Rally Cross. July 2019 saw the inaugural Stadium Sprint event that was a time trial rally cross event that combined tarmac and gravel road surfaces. It was an amazing event that has a very promising future.

The Bend GT Circuit

The Bend GT Circuit is the full 7.77km (35 corner) circuit that is the second longest permanent race track in the world (second only to the Nordschleife, Nurburgring). The Eastern side of the track introduces more elevation changes, blind crests and tight technical corners with reducing radius’ that really push cars and drivers to the limit!

OzGymkhana

When OzGymkhana was first introduced in 2012 I instantly fell in love with it. A combination of precision (medium speed) driving and memorization (only 1-2 runs on each layout, similar to Motorkhana) that perfectly suited my driving style. To date this has been my most successful motorsport discipline, where I have achieved consistent class wins, 3rd in the National Championship Shootout and 2nd outright in the 2015 State Championship.

The Adelaide Motorsport Festival is one of SA's biggest motorsport events with tens of thousands of spectators coming through the gates to watch a huge variety of cars and bikes from all era's compete in Victoria Park, just outside the Adelaide CBD. The first weekend it was run (2014) the sprint was a single day event on the Sunday with a Hillclimb held at Windy Point on the Saturday. The popularity of the sprint however saw it expand to a two day event in 2015; after spectating that year I made sure I was competing again in 2016.

The Collingrove Hillclimb is a private hillclimb track owned by the Sporting Car Club. My second ever motorsport event was a Multiclub event held on the 16/06/2009 where my best time was 43.42 seconds. This placed me 8th in my class and 36th Outright.

At my most recent outing to Collingrove I achieved a new personal best time of 34.82 which placed me 2nd in my class and 9th Outright. My best ever result at the venue!

Mallala

My first track day at Mallala was a Time Attack event in 2009 where I got a time of 1:27.76; I am struggling to find a record of many of my times from back then but the next year I had dropped that time down to 1:23.08.

2016 SA Time Attack was one that I couldn't really skip considering I was featured on the poster for the event! Thanks to a new engine build earlier that year I set a new PB of 1:21.85 which pushed me into the top 10 WRXSA drivers.

My next goal was to bring that time down to below 1:20 which I achieved in 2017.

After being in the motorsport scene for a few years and volunteering at a number of events I was given the amazing opportunity to act as a course car in the 2012 & 2013 Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rallies. It was an amazing (and tiring) experience that I will never forget!

Lanac Park

At the end of 2010 I purchased a Suzuki Swift GTi that I used mainly in dirt based events. The Southern Districts Car Club had a dirt track called Lanac Park located near Mount Compass. The Club has now moved onto a bigger and better venue, the Mid Murry Motorplex which I only competed at once before selling the GTi.

I competed in a few different Dirt Motorkhana's & Khanacross events but did not end up keeping many of the results.
